Back into the blogging world…

OK.  Ok.

I am not good at this!!!  I admit it.
I'll write for a couple of months, and then I'll stop.  I know - not a good sign!!!  They say the third time is the charm.  So I'm going to attempt this blogging thing again!!  You would think that this is easy for me, I love to write!!  ;)

So this is the blog of me, Ron Greene, musician, father, husband, son, brother, co-worker -- just an all around normal guy.  I'll probably spend most time talking about my musical endeavors, but I'll try not to just concentrate on that and bring you the things that resonate with me.  Obviously the main reason I'm blogging is for those interested in the musical life - so it will be bent toward that - however I am a human being with more passions than just music, so I'm sure it'll go all over the place.

This re-entry into the blog world today - stems from what stirred me to start this in the first place. Music.  More to the point, the music that I make.  A month ago I started the process of making my 3rd studio recording.  The project doesn't have a title yet, but I am excited about it.  On this blog I hope to describe the process of making the record (hopefully I do a good job this time) and what it means to me and share with you the joys, triumphs, setbacks, emotions… that go into this process.

I'll start by sharing - this will be recorded at my home studio.  I'll be using an iMac (late 2009 model 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 16GB RAM) on OS X 10.8.5 software, running ProTools version 10.3.7.  My interface is a Digi002Rack, with a Universal Audio 710 preamp, running into a DBX 266xs compressor/limiter and a Presonus Eureka preamp/compressor/Eq as well.  For instruments I have Native Instruments Ultimate 9, Miroslav Philharmonik, Sonik Synth 2, SampleMoog, SampleTron, SampleTank, Amplitube 3, an Eleven Rack guitar processor, Motif-Rack ES, and of course all the ProTools instruments.  I'm also running Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite and UAD plugins.  Not too shabby of system ;)

Ok - I've probably bored with you the geek talk - I'm sorry but I had to get it out of the way. :)  As we go on in the process I'll try to explain what things do and why (I'm learning) and give you glimpses into the process.  Please feel free to ask questions, post comments, and follow along as we go through this journey.  Thanks and until next time…. PEACE!
